The Art, Science and Spirit of Landscape
We dwell inside and around solid, built structures for much of our lives, and while our homes and places of business, worship and schooling are of the utmost importance, we all have the need to go outside, to connect with nature. The fragrance of a flower, the breeze moving in a tree, the softness of a swaying grass tickling the fingertips, the warmth of the sun on the skin; these remind us with sensual matter-of-factness of the reality of the natural world. This connection greatly contributes to our well-being.
By knitting the natural world into our home territories with what one might call botanical architecture, we can bring that sensual joy into our immediate everyday environments. By creating outdoor dwelling spaces furnished with textured, dynamic living plantings and natural materials, we can bring nature into our intimate and private experience, in our own home life. We can bring the outside, in.
Landscape design is also an opportunity to celebrate and support the living web we’re in. By employing ecological principles and practices we can use plantings to contribute to the natural world, rather than taking from it. We can create environments for healthy soil biota, insects and animals of many kinds. We can use plants that sequester more carbon, use less water, and prevent erosion. We can be helpful.
The passion of Kabloom is about creating living works of art that bring health and joy to people and all living things. Thank you for visiting! We’d love to hear from you.
